Hello - My name is Jerry aka Jerman and live in the DC area... I have been a "machine head" now for about 6-7 years and usually see shows at the Rams Head and State Theatre - I recently ventured down to the Norva to catch the request show with my buddy and fellow machine fan Tom...all I can say is WOW that place has the best sound system on the East Coast and the show was simply amazing....my state of mind at the Norva was def out there...felt like Syd after that first set but reeled it back in during the second set I tend to like the Animals album the most and anything older is always a plus too. I am an avid concert goer and tend to see the following bands when they play anywhere near DC/Baltimore/Philly...in no particular order: Yonder Mountain String Band Railroad Earth The Machine Further

Hi Jerry, welcome to the forum! Glad you enjoyed your NorVa show. Sounds like your setlist preferences run something like mine, and your musical tastes in general really. By the way, I'm always at The Machine's Rams Head and State Theatre shows too, and there's usually some sort of a pre-show meet-up... the more the merrier. --Vik

Hello everyone,
My name is Sean, online name is Parmcat, from London Ontario. I am 40 and have been a huge PF fan for as long as I can remember.
Through other forums I use, is where I heard of the Machine. I never got a chance to see the real Pink Floyd, so I have been waiting for a band to come close enough to see. The Machine have been very highly reccommended, so I am very excited to finally hear some PF music live.
I have search youtube and watched as much Machine video, and I am very impressed, and look forward to what the Machine bring.
My fav songs and albums is always evolving.
My top 5 songs, in no real order are:
Coming Back to Life Saucerful What's Uh the Deal Astronomy Echoes
Saucerful of Secrets and the Division Bell are high on my list
I like that the setlists that I have seen by the Machine include some more obscure stuff....
Can't wait for the Casino Rama show, as I will be there.....
Anyway...hello to you all
Sean

Hey now! I'm Alex from NYC, old Machine head, saw them wayyy back in the '90's here in NYC in a kewl (but small) club called The Wetlands Preserves. Stopped for awhile, saw them again@BB Kings a couple of years ago, did the entire Animals album, can't go wrong there... Been a Floyd fan from nearly the beginning (through an older brother who had pretty good taste in music... ), but really fell in love with them with Meddle. Damm good album but Animals is probably my fave overall. Also love Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Sorrow is definitely on the Top 5 list, along with Echoes, Time/Breathe reprise, Dogs and Comfortably Numb. Avid concert goer (sometimes to the extreme, ), been doing it for 35 years, really like what the Machine brings to the table whenever I've seen them. Getting "back on the bus" and driving south to Scottish Rite on Saturday (weather permitting) as well as on March 18th to see Kansas. Looking forward to catching a great night of music in a couple of days...and if they did Sorrow I can't promise that I'll be able to curb my enthusiasm... Peace, Alex BTW, does anyone know if this will be a one full set or a two set with intermission kind-of show? Thanks!

Alex, welcome to the forum! Enjoy your Collingswood show tomorrow. I normally do that one, but I won't be making it this time. My 7-year-older brother is responsible for MY love of Floyd also (and my 18-year-older brother is responsible for my being a Deadhead). In fact, it's my understanding Joe's older brother is the reason he got into Floyd too. So, HERE'S to big brothers! At the Scottish Rite, it's always been the standard 2 sets and an encore. It's only certain venues or circumstances where they have to play one long set. --Vik

Hey everybody, my name is kenny and i've been seeing the machine for 11 years i think. I'd guess that i've seen them about 15 times and, being a huge pink floyd fan, have always loved their shows. I've seen them a bunch at higher ground and the hampton casino ballroom as well as numerous other venues. I'm huge into the dead and phish as well as ween and all sorts of other music. I build custom furniture in brooklyn and my favorite pink floyd album is most definitely Animals.

In the process of deleting/banning a spammer who posted in this thread, I discovered that I somehow missed welcoming you to the Forum, Kenny. Not sure if you'll ever see my post at this point, but apologies for ignoring you, welcome, and I hope you come back. I've been to several Higher Ground shows myself, even though I live in PA, as I have a brother who lives near Burlington. Also, Animals may just be my favorite album too (but I love them all). --Vik

Hello to all the good Floyd fans herein. A quick apology to Vikki for my not noticing this forum and making myself known initially by posting to the Setlists/Reviews/Pics forum. Also a quick thanks to the very same Vikki for making me so welcome via the other post. Floyd fans were always a notch above in terms of being kind.
Alrighty, then. I'm Ira and I currently live in Proctor, Vermont (pop. about 1,800). I'm 47 going on about 27. Been here almost six years. Born in Bay Shore, NY. Lived in too many places, including Lindenhurst (NY), Plainview (NY), Miami (FL), Smithtown (NY), Buffalo (NY), Back to Smithtown, Covina (CA), Azusa (CA), Wamego (KS), back yet again to Smithtown, Kings Park (NY), aaaaaannnnnnd, finally to Vermont. Nope, not military. Just life being crazy as life can sometimes be. I really do NOT like moving and hope to stay planted here for, ummm, ever! It's real pretty in Vermont!
I have always been a music freak. I don't play any instruments but my forte was finding interesting music during high school/college in the record (shoot, gave away my fossility) bins and sharing it with whoever had the patience. Sometimes purchases were made based upon nothing more than the album cover artwork! Hit or miss, but the hits were/are precious to me. I guess I now have about 1,400 CDs. Yes, I am a fossil and haven't gotten around to getting an Ipod yet. I do still love reading the liner notes/artwork of CDs.
Floyd is and has always been a vital part of my collection. Please don't expect me to pick a favorite PF song or album. It's just too damned difficult. One minute I'll be oohing and aahing about Dark Side and the next minute Meddle is the most amazing thing ever. Wait a minute, Animals really is something else, right? Then, who could leave out Wish? And, of course, Atom Heart Mother is in its own class. I like pretty much every note Floyd put to disc!
Other bands I like are Rush, Zep, Sabbath, AC/DC, Motorhead, a ton of obscure metal/progressive bands, another ton of ambient/space bands like Tangerine Dream, Talking Heads, The Dead, and in the last two years I have become an extreme devotee of an old German band called Can (sometimes referred to as The Can). I'd heard of them in a background kind of way for many years but only discovered their music recently. Without going overboard, let me just say that Can, IMHO, has many qualities that Floyd fans can appreciate. It has altered my brain chemistry! Try the album Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi, or Future Days. Just my two cents, your mileage may vary, no salesman will call, etc. Thank me later.
My first time seeing The Machine was last Friday, 6/24/11 at the Paramount Theater in Rutland, Vermont and I had, of course, a super time. Whenever they play here, I will have a ticket. I'm hooked! You can read my review in the Setlists/Reviews/Pics forum. Well, if you've made it this far, I thank you for listening/reading.
Ira

Hello all...My name is Mike. I just found out about The Machine and won tickets to one of their concerts. Looking forward to the show tomorrow in Vineland, NJ. I have the Symphonic Side of the Moon CD and was very impressed with what I heard. Pink Floyd has been my favorite Bands for many years. I have seen Pink Floyd twice with Roger Waters...Animals Tour and the original Wall Tour. Twice without Roger...Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour and Pulse Tour. I have seen Roger three times solo including the 30TH Anniversary Wall Tour last November in Philadelphia. I want to see David Gilmore but have not had the chance. From what I have read on this forum, the Machine has a passionate following and fanbase. Looking forward to talking about Pink Floyd and The Machine with some of you.

I've been hearing great things about The Machine for years now being an avid Floyd fan from way back from NH.
Anyways finally got my first chance to see them in the flesh this past Fri up at Blue Ocean Music hall in Salisbury MA. Wow what a place, my first visit there too. What an awesome show, opened with Shine On - yes! 2nd set with Echoes and an encore of a scorching Comfortably Numb. Anyone know of the official set list?
Will try to catch them when they play outdoors in Lowell in Sept.
Wished I had purchased some merch at the show, figured there would be more on this site. Oh well.

Welcome to the Forum, cosmo! Glad you enjoyed your first Machine show, and thanks for posting! They usually post the setlist and crowd photo on their Facebook page (link at the bottom of this site's front page). I don't see your setlist yet, but I do see a couple Blue Ocean photos there... can you spot yourself? --Vik

Vikki wrote: Now that our forum registration process has been fixed, we're finally starting to see more new "faces" around here! YAY! Now maybe the level of activity on these forums will actually start to reflect the sheer numbers of devoted Machine fans out there... from the 20-year veterans, to the newbies, to everybody in between! In light of this, I was thinking (and Bruce agreed) it's time to start a "Welcome Mat" thread where newcomers can "wipe their feet" and take a minute to introduce themselves and tell us a little about themselves, if they want. Heck, you don't even have to be new here... anyone can do it! Hi Vikki,I met you last night at the bar before the show,Michael.Anyway, what a story to tell about last night. After going inside we took our seats and I got some nice footage of the first set.We went down to the floor for the second set and alot of people were recording the show.I started videoing myself and have some awesome up close video on SOUCD.After a bit a security guard named Rick put his hand over the lens and told me to stop.Ok so cell phones were cool because everyone else was videoing with phones.I had a camcorder. My brother in law who you met also talked to management about things and they told him they didnt want me recording with the camera. So,later I whipped out my cell phone and took a picture of "Rick" the security guard and thats when he ran up to me and actually laid hands on me and tried to thro w(literally)out the door.Well if you recall I am a pretty good size guy so he was only able to get me out the door. The manager named J.Walker(I think)came out on the street and even called the RPD on me.I had to deal with the officers and prove I wasnt drunk. So,my First Amendment right were walked on with pretty heavy shoes last night and I am seeking legal counsel Monday morning. The bands website encourages recording and the Venue says if the artist is ok with it its cool.Show was great tough.
