There has been very little talk lately of The Machine playing New Years Eve. I'm not so sure that they are playing anywhere that night. Last year at Penns Peak was great. They would have to make an announcement pretty darn soon, NYE is only 30 days away. Scored my Strand-Capitol tickets today. Yee-Ha!

See this thread I posted a few weeks back. "admin" states having some info, but not sure if they could reveal it. Could be either way, play or no play.

In either case, I need to know soon, as I realy would like to go someplace! The only other choice for me would be New Riders in Reading.

What Admin was talking about in that thread was something in AC, but that fell through. I've also gotten info from Penn's Peak that they don't plan to have ANY show there on NYE, plus TM just booked a 3/27 show there. So it's not looking like TM is playing anywhere on NYE... now I'm not 100% certain on that, but if they are, I'd think it would've been announced by now.

I'm looking for something to do too. I hadn't heard about New Riders in Reading, that would be a possibility I suppose. There's also DSO in Baltimore. And Jam Stampede at the River Street Jazz Cafe near Wilkes-Barre... that's basically Mike Miz and some of the Zen Tricksters playing The Dead and Garcia all night, and probably a great time. And Cabinet in playing in Scranton. The most local thing to me would be Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg, where there's "A Space Odyssey - Spotus reunion show", which sounds interesting, but I'm not familiar with Spotus and I haven't looked them up yet. But I don't want to go ANYWHERE where I won't have friends to hang with, so I may just stay home. If anybody here wants to try to group together and do something, speak up.

my vote (if I wasnt going to be down in Miami Beach) would be for Jam Stampede. I checked them out last month....good times for sure...

take a listen.

I actually find it better than what the Dead remnants have been doing lately.

Well I've finally decided on Jam Stampede. I had about 9 or 10 decent shows within a 2 hour radius to pick from... and they each had some kind of drawback... either cost, not having someone to hang with, not having a place to crash, having to drive home drunk, or some combination. But last night I found out my best friend Adam will be going with me, and he doesn't drink, so that takes care of both my loneliness AND my DD problem, yay. The Jam Stampede show is the one I kept gravitating to for weeks now, so that's what we picked. Crazy part is, he is NOT a Dead fan, lol, but he says he's into it, god bless him. :)

Only thing is, it's gonna SNOW... hoping that doesn't foil our plans. If so, then it's movies here at home, or maybe a local show, in which case the choices would be either a) Funktion, which is a very good local rockin funk band, at Stocks On 2nd in Harrisburg, and that's a free show, or b) a Spotus reunion show at Appalachian Brewing Company in Harrisburg for $10... that's a local band I know in name only but I checked them out online and they seem pretty decent.

But HOPEFULLY I'll be at Jam Stampede! By any chance is there anybody else reading this who's gonna be there? Gerald, what are YOU doing for NYE? River Street Jazz Cafe near Wilkes-Barre, Dead/Garcia tunes from 10-2, $10 cover... come on out! :)
