Hello all....

I'm Mike and new to the forum (and the website)...saw my first TM show last year in Philadelphia...It was great!! I was especially impressed with the performance of great gig....The first time I experienced PF DSOTM 20 some years ago....I was just blown away on a spiritual level....I listen to alot of music but nothing quite had the same impact on me as PF...I became a fan instantly...As a guitarist myself....I found a role model in David Gilmour, who seems to be less about speed and volume and more about expression and space of each note...truly a great sound in my opinion....I'll be attending the May 2 concert in Harrisburg, PA and the June 13 unplugged show in Annapolis, MD..and hope to see all of you there...

Cheers...

Mike, somehow I totally missed your intro post here, despite your email to me at the time... didn't mean to be rude and not welcome you! After seeing your post today in the Whitaker thread, I noticed your postcount was 2, that's how I found this. I suspect I did read it while half asleep or on the fly and told myself I'd reply later... I do that sometimes... and usually I follow through... but I have no memory of this one, lol. Anywhooo, welcome to the forum! And I hope to meet you tonight at the Whitaker/G-Man. :)

Hey all !

Name's Jim 1st timer here, got introduced to TM this last weekend @ the Richmond National Show. What an awesome experience. Knew that the band had usually made stops here just hadn't had the opportunity to take in a show. So glad that I managed to carve out some time to check them out ! Consummate musicianship with a very faithful and true interpretation. Love the fact that they are a taper friendly band & I hope that some folks managed to get in a rig to record this special show for posterity ! I have found a few posts here for some torrents available so I jumped on the opportunity to check those out too ! Thanks to the tapers & seeders you rock :D As I typed this welcome I got the magic little message from my BT client that 6/12/09 show has been downloaded gotta like that for serendipity \m/.

From comments made at the show and in this Times Dispatch article http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/entertainment/music/article/W-MACH23_20090722-190005/281487/ It's likely that this show with the Richmond Symphony will be documented for a PBS special and maybe a DVD and/or a CD from some comments that Joe made during the show ! That would indeed be great ! Awesome energy from the band and those in attendance !

I foresee this to be the 1st of many shows to come

Shine on fellow crazy diamonds

:D And another fan is born! Welcome to the forum, Alde! You were very lucky to catch a symphony show... now you must make it a point to get to a "regular" show... two different experiences, both amazing in their own way.

Also, thanks for providing that article link... someone had mentioned it to me, but it's nice to be able to read it myself... good article, with some interesting quotes by Joe.

Thanks for the shout out Vikki ! Hiya right backatcha :D ! Signed up for the mailing list to be alerted to future shows in the area and I'll check back on the forum for other info. Definitely like the fact that the band revels in changing up the setlist often giving everyone a different show to experience each time ! Oh and BTW should you see or hear anything about the the Richmond show being let loose as a boot please send me a PM ! If I hear anything more locally about this show coming up on a future local PBS broadcast as mentioned at the show I'll post a heads up and make sure to set the DVR !!

Shine On~!

Alde

Not new to The Machine but new to the forum! Was getting tired of saying - “I'm with Magenta...” after every show when chatting with the guys! I've seen the Machine 3 or 4 times and each time it's an awesome experience... Looking forward to the next CT show!

Hi all new to this site, I'm Mike from Toronto Can. I'm also on tapfs/aussiefloyd and britfloyd. I saw that TM will be performing Jan 28th at Rama, so i had to check out this site as well as youtube. I'm so far very impressed with the earlier songs they perform (1965-1973) as well as a few from The Final Cut. If anyone out here will be seeing the show at Rama get in touch, Cheers
Mike

YAY! :)
I'm IN!

Listening to Keith's excellent 'Birthday' recording inspired me to have another look here. It seems that the forum's been changed - last time I tried to register there just nothing happened.
But that was a long time ago.

OK... who's longtalleric?

I've been a fan of the Machine since, hmmm, well, I guess, mid nineties or so. I remember I ordered the band's first live CD by just sending money overseas, to one of the band members (Todd). I still play this CD quite often.

Of course I went to see the band when they were visiting our country (I was *very* excited the first time when I heard they'd come to Europe!) and every show was just awesome. I've seen quite a lot of Floyd tribute bands but I'm probably spoiled - the only band that still captivates me is The Machine.

Now I can only hope the band will return to the Netherlands some time again!
Until then, I'm grateful there are people like Keith who do such a great job capturing these amazing shows.

I have been to almost every Richmond, VA show since 2008 except when they did The Wall last year. I was very sick and sadly my ticket went unused. My wife and nephew still made it to that one and have not let me forget about it since. Kinda silly, but while they were at the show I watched the original concert on dvd. At least I got to experience it somewhat.

The symphony show was amazing, but I have had a great time at every show. David Gilmour's playing is what got me started playing guitar a couple of years ago. I am very envious of Joe's Black Strat. I am always impressed at how close Joe sounds to David's style of playing. And Scott's keyboard work is dead on.

Keep up the great work guys and I look forward to Saturday's show. I try to bring a different friend every time and will have someone seeing you for the first time again then.

Neil, welcome again, and enjoy your show on Saturday! :)

And longtalleric, I apologize for not greeting you sooner... sometimes I don't have time to post at that moment and then I forget to get back to it. Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope you get your wish for another Machine show in the Netherlands soon... I know some other people over there who would be happy for that too! In the meantime, I'm glad you're enjoying the live recordings. :)

Oh and yes, there had been some problems with forum registration in the past, but it seems to be fixed now, so people should try again, if they're reading this.

Thank you, Vikki!
It's great to be here, read about the shows, and then, with some luck, to be able to listen to those shows as well!

But of course I keep on hoping for a show that I can *write* about. ;)
