I have done the DSOTM and the wizard of oz multiple times, and to be honest I think there is a direct correlation. I have heard about the wall and alice in wonderland, but I have never tried it out

Has any one out there tried it?

Let me know what you think

CHECK OUT VICKI'S ENTRY JUST BEFORE YOURS. THE SYNCS AND
THE FACTS ABOUT THE MARKET AND THE RELEASE OF P/F ALBUMS
IS PRETTY INTERESTING.

I found this Pink Floyd trivia page on Wikipedia... some interesting info on synchronizations, miscellaneous trivia, and it also includes an alphabetical list of notable Floyd tribute bands. Did anybody know The Machine had their own Wikipedia entry? It's a little short and needs some updating, but still...

I've done the Dark Side of the Rainbow thing numerous times in my living room, and when I manage to get the CD started at the right time, it's a pretty cool experience. I even went to a DSOTR laser show where I got to see it done perfectly. I only recently heard about putting the CD on repeat and continuing to watch the movie... haven't tried that yet. But as fascinating as it is, I think it's all coincidence. After that was discovered, many other albums/songs have been found to be in sync with many other movies.

But from everything I've read so far, the synchronization between the song Echoes and the last scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey sounds far more promising as being intentional. I definitely want to try it myself sometime. In addition to what was written on that Floyd trivia page, I found more detailed info in the Wikipedia entry for Echoes... page down to Synchronization... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echoes_%28song%29

PS: Even though DSOTR is definitely cool, anyone who believes it was intentional should read this:

PPS: If there's anyone out there who has tried the Echoes/2001 Space Odyssey thing, please post and give us your take on it. If it really is cool, maybe it's something The Machine could incorporate into a show?

Guess what I found on YouTube... the synch for 2001-Echoes! The first 5 minutes or so are not too remarkable, but it's worth watching the whole way through. The mood and tone of the two fit well together, very trippy, and it helps to remember that the original lyrics to Echoes were about planets. Due to the length, it's split into 3 parts:

I found something else that synchs WAY cooler that doesn't seem to be included on any of the synch websites... some guy combined One of These Days with a 5-minute section from that same final scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey. You've got to check this out:

And here's a 4-minute clip of The Wall with Alice and Wonderland, which was pretty cool too and I'd like to see the whole thing sometime:

Enjoy!

I realize not everybody has high-speed internet, but did anybody here watch any of the Floyd synchs in my above post? They're all worth checking out at least once, but the one with One of These Days is the most remarkable as far as how perfect it synchs. Just curious what people thought. :?:

Yeah, actually I watched the OoTD synch, it really is trippy how well the clip and the music go together. I showed it to my mom on Thanksgiving Break and she thought it was awesome too

At first I suspected maybe the guy had edited the movie a little to match the music, plus some of the comments discuss whether it's "over-synched" or not which might suggest that... but I rewatched that portion of the 2001 Echoes synch and compared the two a couple times and I can't see any differences in the movie, so I think it's legit.

As for intent... I'm convinced MOST synchs are coincidence, HOWEVER... there is some convincing evidence that the 2001 Echoes synch was intentional, and if that's true I'd tend to believe the One of These Days synch was too (it's just so perfect), as there could have been more than one attempt at scoring the film, and since it wasn't typical of them to scrap a composition, they were both recycled for Meddle. I don't know if it's relevant, but halfway into OOTD you can hear the Dr. Who theme song, and also OOTD was used in the Carl Sagan documentary Cosmos... both space related... hmmm. I think it was the space noise on the beginning of Division Bell that started that "Pink Floyd: First In Space" thing... but maybe in a sense it goes back WAY further than that?

All these synchs have cool catchy names, but since the OOTD synch doesn't have a name yet that I know of, we should come up with one. Maybe 200One of These Days? Or 2001 of These Days? Or just 2001 Days? Or 2001 Space Days? Or 2001 Odd Days? You get the idea.

Just an update regarding the 2001 of These Days synch.... PF Online has a forum just for synchronizations, and some posters on there were discussing how they thought the movie was edited to synch with the song so well... so I sent a message to the guy who put it on YouTube and asked, and I also told him our catchy name for it... here's his reply:

Quote:
the first version that I made wasn't edited, but this one is. although the first version was already cool, this one is a lot better.
(yes, i liked the title you gave..LOL)

I would've liked to have seen his original unedited version, but anyway this might nix that intent theory I had :? ... oh well, it's still cool to watch.

i have tried it, and get goosebumps every time! Dark side of Oz is just awesome. And the very end when she says "theres no place like home", the lyrics say..."home, home again" and then when the movie fades to black you hear"and i'm not afraid of dying"

it's just plain weird. As for The Wall of Wonderland, I have tried it, and was not impressed, although some parts do get interesting.
