Ended up at Penn's Peak last night, as I was too "tired" to make the 4 1/2 hour drive to Dave Matthews....Thanks to Vikki for trading me a ticket in the perfect recording spot for my pit ticket..to OJ for being a good seat mate/mic stand security and to Paul, who (hopefully) understood when I needed my tickets back when I realized I was going to the show.

Keith,

Thanks very much, AWESOME recording, well worth the time to grab off of bit torrent and load to itunes... Not sure how you record with this great quality (Thanks also to OJ, for keeping the mic away from the screaming drunk guy who I imagine was close by... ha, ha) but I appreciate your efforts!

----

Now about the set list, not one of my personal favorites (this isn't a knock on the guys, they sound great) compared to some other recent shows but you did get Not Now John which I'm sure was a nice surprise!

The concert is now loaded to my IPOD and ready for the ride tonight to NH for a family vacation... Was considering the VT show next sat but the ride is 3 hours away from where I'll be with no co-pilot available....

(...nice, just got to my favorite part of DOGS... the guys sound great, Joe's guitar work is right there... when is the machine coming back to CT???)

Sorry it's taken me so long to post, but I haven't been feeling well, constant headaches and such, so I haven't been on the computer much. Now Saturday's misery can be blamed on my Penn's Peak festivities for sure  ... as for the other days, well that's just the way I am sometimes. :?

As resident bargain hunter here, let me start out by reporting an important discovery I made about Penn's Peak's drink prices... now this doesn't apply to every type of mixed drink, depends on the alcohol involved... but in the case of my Absolut & cranberrys, a single is $6, and a double is only $9. So needless to say, I was drinking doubles all night... 7 of them as a matter of fact, 2 of which were mixed more like triples! In my defense, that last one wasn't planned... some guy just bought it for me, hoping to get lucky no doubt, lol. Oh, and this would be a good time to mention what a great designated driver OJ is... thank you for once again getting me and my car home in one piece. And maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but I yesterday found that turnpike ticket exactly where it was supposed to be, in my dash, right on top of my Till We Meet Again CD... I don't understand it.

Anyway, I can't really write a real review this time due to my drunkeness (besides, all my reviews start to sound the same after a while anyway, lol), but I will say I remember EVERYTHING sounding GREAT, which thankfully I was able to confirm later by listening to Keith's recording, lol. Dogs seemed to take on special meaning to me that night... I remember becoming really engrossed. And the guys broke out a cool new jam during Money... I really liked that! But the definite highlight of the show for me was Not Now John, one I'd been waiting on for years. I knew we must be getting something special for the encore when they finished the 2nd set with the The Trial sequence (normally done as an encore). Scott said they'd played NNJ for the first time (at least since Scott joined) the weekend before at Ortley Beach, so this was actually their second performance, but anyway it sounded absolutely PERFECT! All their Final Cut stuff always sounds perfect, and I'm always so happy when they add another Final Cut song to their catalog, because that means we're one step closer to a whole Final Cut SHOW!

It was really good seeing everyone again... I had a great time. I feel I must give a shout-out to this guy named Ron that I keep seeing at the shows... he doesn't post, but I think he lurks... anyway he's from Connecticut and I think he said he attended 23 TM shows last year and like 9 so far this year... that's probably more than ANY of us! Ron, I think I forgot to ask you if you'll be making the Philly symphony/laser show... I'm guessing yes, lol... if so, make sure you come join our pre-show picnic, ya hear? :)

Keith, thank you for another excellent quality recording... are you gonna mail me a copy as usual? By the way, you missed the title Stop, after Waiting For the Worms.

why do the girls always assume the guy is trying to pick her up? Perhaps the guy saw a drunk girl in need of just one more cocktail to make her evening just right... ha, ha... Glad to hear you "enjoyed" the show Vikki, I look forward to crossings paths in the future! How many "doubles" did you say??

Once again, special thanks to Keith and OJ for spreading the Machine sound over the internet!

So Vikki, you know how a long time ago, you told me TM is holding it down better than Floyd (at least in their later years)? You might be on to something. After listening to Penn's Peak a few times now and having listened to one of the Floyd shows I recorded in '94 this evening.....I think you may be right, the show I saw at RFK was sloppy, I'll have to revisit my one california show and compare.....ALTHOUGH...Roger Waters this past tour was killer.

Actually, I listened to your Roger recording a couple times, and yes certain songs/sections were killer, but I also heard lots that didn't sound near as good as TM... the drum intro to Time comes to mind, for instance. The truth is, Roger's band is just another Floyd tribute band... maybe better than the average Floyd tribute band, but not nearly as good as TM... them's the facts. And yes I even go a step further in stating that TM in many cases is even better than Pink Floyd themselves... which makes perfect sense given the fact that they are all excellent musicians and have been playing this music pretty much constantly for 20 years... of course they're gonna sound better than Floyd did. Before anybody starts in with the blasphemy accusations, let me add that of course Pink Floyd and its individual members get ALL the credit for CREATING this wonderful music... I'm just talking about the EXECUTION of it right now.

Hey magenta, I wanted to address this before and forgot......
Why did I "assume" he was trying to pick me up? Well let's see... it coulda been his arm around my shoulder, or him asking if I was there with anyone, or maybe it was his "I don't know you, you don't know me" comment... should I go on? Even Kate told me later that her friend turned around and saw, and he said "OMG that drunk guy is SO hitting on Vikki!"... and apparently it was a funny enough sight that Kate laughed so loud that Joe seemed to notice from on stage! Oh, but I'm sorry, I was probably reading the guy all wrong.

But anytime someone wants to buy me a drink, a double no less, that's fine with me, hehe. And for the record, magenta, yes I somehow was able to keep track this time, and it was definitely 7 doubles, 2 of which were mixed like triples, so I figure that's somewhere between 14 and 16 drinks... and I could've kept going too, lol. Funny thing is, I don't drink very often (mostly just at shows), but when I do, I like to do it right... my motto: "Binge Responsibly."

Been missing due to computer problems, i threatened to replace it with an abacus and everythings seems fine now. I see i have been getting undeserved credit at this show, the PennsPeak crowd was fantastic, other than that one young lady puking on her wanten boyfriend everybody was most respectful of the recording process.
There were a lot of new faces and some welcome old friends at the show, one thing did strike close to home - it was all about the music. Some concerts are social events, people chit-chatting to one another over the music and others thinking they have something very important to relate to whomever will listen. Not the PennsPeak bunch, they were there to hear The Machine. And the boys did play, what a concert!
I might mention to Vikki that whenever you 'binge responsibly' and loose the toll ticket don't announce it on the internet that you found it right where you put it. Make up a lie.
Thanks all, oj

Nah, I'm too honest for that, and besides it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining as the truth! Perhaps you shoulda pulled over before the toll booth to give me a chance to find it, like I wanted you to. And remember, you're the one who missed I-78 and stayed on the turnpike! And you were SOBER!
:P :P :P

Ha, ha... good stuff... It certainly appears "perhaps" a nice guy was looking for a little something besides The Machine music that evening... I guess at this point I'm a little to far removed from the bar/dating scene being happily married and all!

I must say, very impressive on the cocktail consumption, I don't know many women who could slug 7 doubles and still enjoy the show... Good advice "Binge Responsibly."!

Well I wasn't exactly "slugging" them... this was between like 5:30 and the end of the show... I was "comfortably numb" but still very much "with it" the whole time, I never felt sick, I remember almost everything, and above all else I DEFINITELY ENJOYED THE SHOW! :D

Now the next morning I did have a nasty hangover, complete with pounding headache and puking :? ... I was kinda surprised, because Absolut is normally very good to me, and I always felt the cranberry juice helps too. But I did drink a bit more than usual, and I normally take 2 Excedrine with a big glass of water before going to sleep, which I forgot to do this time... so there ya go...
