Now that our forum registration process has been fixed, we're finally starting to see more new "faces" around here! YAY! Now maybe the level of activity on these forums will actually start to reflect the sheer numbers of devoted Machine fans out there... from the 20-year veterans, to the newbies, to everybody in between! In light of this, I was thinking (and Bruce agreed) it's time to start a "Welcome Mat" thread where newcomers can "wipe their feet" and take a minute to introduce themselves and tell us a little about themselves, if they want. Heck, you don't even have to be new here... anyone can do it!

Just for you Vikki... I'll get this one started....
Hello, my name is Keith... I always see tickets going onsale for the Machine at great venues and decide to jump on tickets to later realize that the show is just not in the cards for me (this week included). Havent been able to catch them live since San Diego in August, but hopefully will again soon. I definitely wont be making any advance plans for shows this winter, but day of show might find me hitting one up.

Sorry it took me so long to post in the newly formed "Welcome Mat", I didn't want to be obnoxious and start posting all over the place, lol. I live in Sayreville, NJ so I first saw The Machine at the Starland Ballroom a few years ago, and have gone to every show in the vicinity since. Machine shows take top priority. Since I am sure many from this forum will be attending some or all of the shows at BBs, look forward to meeting some of you there. Beers are on me.

I may have exhausted my group of potential people to go with on Saturday and Sunday night already. Also thinking about flying down to Ft. Lauderdale the end of January for the show down there. With the weather we are having lately, the odds are increasing by the day.

I saw these guys for the first time 3 years ago and haven't missed a chance to see them in Charlotte or Raleigh since. I am so excited for the shows here in NC in a couple of weeks. They are the genuine article, definitely enjoy what they are doing, and seem to be good guys. Thanks for allowing a fan that never got to see Pink Floyd a chance to see "Pink Floyd!"

Hiya! I am a The Machine newbie! I love live-music and Pink Floyd is my favorite band. Other bands that really blow me away live are Dream Theater, Tool, Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, ISIS, and Sound Tribe Sector Nine! I've seen Roger Waters live twice. Once on the "In the Flesh Tour" in 1999 and once on the "Darkside of the Moon" tour in 2007. Both shows were awesome and my fave songs from those tours were the tracks from Animals and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun". I heard that The Machine is a great jamband who plays all Floyd so I thought I would check them out. I love every live clip I found of them so far. I am blown away by their jammy/progressive skills and can't wait to see them live! Currently, I am trying to acquire as many CDs/DVDs of theirs I can and talk them into playing in the area!!!

Hello again Frog,
Several Machine fans have recorded and posted many of our live concerts. If you search the forum, you will find a link to some free downloads. Let me know if you find them and what you think. The Machine is a taper friendly band. We encourage fans to record the shows (audio only) with room mics, board feeds are not allowed. We love it when the fans post the shows to share with all of the other fans and band!

Randy That is the sign of a good live band. Bands that can really jam seem to enjoy the trading/taping of shows! I think that attitude is good for the band and the fans!

[b]Hi, everyone! I just saw the Machine for the first time at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC! And I have been a Floyd fan since the sixties, but these guys just blew me away! After 2 songs, I ran out and bought a DVD and Cd! I was totally hooked by the first bass note! All I can say is WOW! Totally CooooooL! After the show the guys were nice enough to sign my CD, which is now one of my most prized possessions. They were so nice and down to earth! I was really impressed with their love for their fans! I hope they never change. Anyway, just wanted to get aquainted with some of the other Machine fans here.
PEACE! and LOVE!!
Sharon

Hello everyone! My name is Sarah, but a lot of people remember me for my hats. (PM if you are curious, too...) I saw The Machine for the first time when I was 14. I was with my family, Mom/Dad/Bro/Bro' GF, and Me. This was not an unusual thing, though, because my father had been slowly exposing us to great live music while we were kids. Allman Brothers Band in Cincinatti was my first big concert outing- I was 11, and it was awesome, with a mudslide and everything! Needless to say, my father has successfully turned my brother and me into music addicts. My brother is a jazz and classical performance major at UTK. I am a journalism and English double major, on a magazine writing focus.
I just wanted to say that hearing The Machine on fresh, sober, young ears has shaped who I am today. I was instantly a Floyd Head and have not lost a bit of that enthusiasm about it over these years. These guys are doing a great thing and I fully support them. Sorry it took me so long to finally register on the forum... That was my loss!
