I've managed to work out my schedule and convince a few friends to do the same to make my/our first boat cruise! Very much looking forward to this as a “post” fathers day gift... All of us cleared the wife hurdle with this tactic, ha, ha... Now I need to work on a round of golf too!
Was wondering about a few things for those who have been: • Is there a good watering hole within walking distance? • Any parking recommendations, I know the site offers numerous spots, just wondering better, safer, closer? • Is it worth getting in line early? I know everyone gets on... but do people wait to get a seat or to stand in front of the band or to get a viewing spot on the outer part of the boat? Personally, I'm not concerned about the NY view (who would have guessed right?) but I want to make sure I can see the guys and at least be in the room were they play!
oh yea, anyone else planning on attending?
--Below is the email flyer I used to help persuade my friends not to miss out, thought some of you might get a kick out of it!

Count me in. I switched days off with a co-worker, and ordered my tickets online a few days ago. My only decision now is if I drive, or take the train into Grand Central from Milford. I don't mind driving into the City, but I don't know if I'll be able to park the car in a safe and or affordable place.

Hi everyone, I think I posted something about transportation to and from the Rocks Off Concert Cruise in the past...here's some info again for those traveling from the West. Besides buses & cars, you can also take the ferry to the cruise. There is a ferry terminal 1-2 blocks from the boat. The Rocks Off Concert cruise departs from West 41st street / Pier 81 and the ferry terminal is located at West 39th street. The last ferry to Weehawken, NJ is 10:50pm. The show starts at 7pm (when the boat leaves) and ends at 10pm (when the boat docks). Here's a link to the ferry schedule: http://www.nywaterway.com/Home/RidetheF ... fault.aspxAlso, the NJ Light Rail connects to the Path Train in Hoboken...the Path Train runs as far north as 34th Street & 6th Avenue in Manhattan. The Light Rail runs as late as 1am. The Path runs all night: Light Rail: http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet. ... ightRailToPath Trains....panynj.gov....sorry...the forum only allows two URL's per post. Parking: you can park at the Ferry terminal. There are parking garages in Hoboken & near other train stops. In Manhattan: Google Pier 81, NYC and serach nearby for garages....plenty of parking garages in the upper 30's btwn 9th & 10th Avenue. Also, you can find non-metered residential parking in the 30's btwn 8th & 10th Avenue.....it's tough to get a spot but it's possible. You can also find non-metered residential parking in the 40's btwn 8th & 10th Avenue...but I believe you can only park there after 7pm (can't remember). Hope this helps. RMT

This cruise is still totally up in the air for me... might make it, might not. If I do, I'd be parking in Hoboken and taking the ferry over (the correct ferry this time, one that returns late at night!). But I'm not too into doing it alone, even though I'd know people once I'm on the boat. Is there anybody else coming from PA who would want to ride with me, or meet up in NJ? Originally Keith was going to go with me, but last I heard he now has a paying gig that night. By the way, Magenta, great flyer! --Vik

Think I'll be training in also, probably out of New Haven... Very much looking forward to this one!
Good to see “Your Possible Past” made the Sherman Theatre set list its been a while I believe?
I'm expecting a high energy show for the cruise - ending on a high note like one of these days would be very cool!

I'm definately going! This will be my first cruise. I wanted to go previous years but something always got in the way. I've got my priorities straight this year! I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. It's been so rainy this month in CT that I'm getting depressed.
My plan is to drive to Stamford, CT and pick up a friend and then take the train into Grand Central. We should arrive there a little after 5PM. Unless anyone has a better idea, we'll be taking a cab from Grand Central to the boat.
Ron
P.S. I was also very pleased to hear "Your Possible Pasts" at the Sherman.

Not sure at the moment... I expect to be in NY between 3:00 - 4:00 depending on when one guy can get out of work...
I should know more tomorrow.

Anyone interested in car pooling to the Cruise? I'll even drive. It's got to be a lot cheaper than all of us taking the train. Can even stop to pick up a friend too, or drop you off on 42nd Street at your favorite watering hole. I'll be leaving the Milford area around 3:00 (or sooner if we can) just to miss the Stamford rush hour.

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm making this cruise or not... leaning toward yes at this point, despite the fact that I'd probably have to make the trip alone... we'll see... --Vik
