Thanks to our buddy Lewis at www.themusicneverstopped.org, we have some really far out snaps of the band playing at the Riviera Theatre on December 18th last year. You can check out more of Lewis' work at his site. The gallery from the show is here, or just watch the slideshow below.

Finally, the promised news about Atlanta! In case you've been living in Swine Flu quarantine for the last 3 months, the Machine is going to be performing with the world-famous Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. We are happy to be able to announce the details of the trip for our fans to see the band perform with the ASO, 8 p.m. Friday, April 2. It's the beginning of spring break for lots of folks, and this might be a great way to kick things off. The ASO has been really helpful in setting up some great deals for the band's fans, so here's how to do it:

1) Book your own plane ticket to Atlanta, or drive. We are still finding deals for about $250 round trip from most big markets in the northeast.

2) The ASO has arranged for our fans to get their heavily discounted $99 rate for suites at Marriott Midtown Suites, 35 14th St., Atlanta, GA, 30309. The hotel is one block from symphony hall and walking distance from shopping, restaurants, and museums. Contact Brenda Brickell, the sales person at the Marriott, (678) 427-0929, brenda.brickell@marriot.com for the special rate.

3) The ASO has arranged for a special $5 discount on ticket purchases AND a discounted dinner/ticket package with a three star restaurant in walking distance of the hall. Contact Russell Wheeler at (404) 733-4807 or russell.wheeler@woodruffcenter.org to purchase either discounted tickets to the performance or the discounted dinner/ticket package.

We hope you will come. The band will be performing The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety with the symphony, plus lots of other surprises. Expect a long and thrilling show. And of course, the Interstellar Lightshow will be there too. Don't hesitate to email us at themachine@rockitartistmanagement.com if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hey guys! First, sorry about the wait on the Atlanta fan trip details. An email with information about the trip should be hitting your inbox tomorrow. If you want to get in on this great opportunity to save some cash and have a great, worry-free time in Atlanta this April, sign up for our mailing list using the link on the upper-left of this page.

Those of you who made it to the Artpark show in New York last August probably remember it as a fantastic time with a great laser show. For everyone else, while the stories told about the experience are cool, the pictures illustrate the night much better. So click on the link below to see photos from the show. Bonus points if you can find yourself in the pictures!

Hey guys, we hope you're about to head home from work and get ready for a great weekend! The big parades of Mardi Gras start tomorrow, with the Krewe du Vieux kicking things off on Saturday. In other news, we'd like to draw your attention to The Machine on Archive.org! We've got some amazing recordings up there, in FLACS for the audiophiles and MP3s for everyone else. Check it out, and keep looking at it regularly for new shows!

Hey Machine fans! The Machine played at the House of Blues in New Orleans (after the Saints won their first playoff game 45-14, no less!) to a packed crowd. Everyone who was there said the show was amazing, and the appearances of Joe Cabral of The Iguanas and Dave Malone of The Radiators added some local flavor to the show. We have a selection of photos from the night available in our photo album, or see the slideshow below.

January 18th 2010
For all of you who missed it, here's the footage from The Machine's performance on Good Day Atlanta. Sorry about the compression, it's added a strange warble to the sound, but there's nothing we can do about that (except for see the real thing live!) so if you're in the area, get tickets for the April 2nd show now! PS: If you'd like to come down be sure and sign up for the email list because we'll have a fan-only deal for a hotel room/ticket package going out later this week!

January 14th 2010
Hey guys!

We're finally able to announce that America's premier tribute to Pink Floyd, THE MACHINE, will be performing at the Wakarusa Festival 2010!

Wakarusa will be held June 3-6, 2010 and is in beautiful Ozark, Arkansas. The festival goes on at the base of a mountain and in the past has featured many big names in the jam band and classic rock world, including Gov't Mule (who have been known to throw out many a Pink Floyd cover during their shows) and The Black Crowes. Many festival attendees prefer to camp, but there is day parking for those who truly appreciate air conditioning and showers ;).

We think it's going to be an amazing time, and we hope to see you guys there. Tickets are on sale now at www.wakarusa.com and the line-up is being announced "early" on the Wakarusa Facebook but will also be available on their website shortly. Remember, this is just one in a long line of festival announcements for The Machine, so stay tuned to this space for more info!

Hey guys, this Tuesday, January 12th, the Machine will be appearing on FOX 5's Good Day Atlanta to promote their April 2nd appearance with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Tickets for the ASO show have gone on sale as of 10 AM today, you can purchase yours at the ASO website. If you live in Atlanta, make sure to catch The Machine on FOX 5's Good Day Atlanta between 9 AM and 10 AM on Tuesday, January 12th. For everyone else, you can catch the appearance on FOX 5's website.

Hey guys, only three days until Christmas! Until our shows at B.B. Kings on the 29th and 30th, we are just relaxing and enjoying the season's spirit. As an early Christmas present, we'd like for you to enjoy this video of Pink Floyd playing in 1966. The footage looks like it was filmed at the UFO Club, where Pink Floyd was essentially the house band in their formative years. Owsley (of Grateful Dead fame) made many appearances at their 1965 and 1966 shows, and this is where the band perfected early staples such as Interstellar Overdrive, Astronomy Dominé, See Emily Play, and Arnold Layne.

December 18th 2009
The weekend of January 16th, the universe is lining up in such a way that if you can at all get to New Orleans for the House of Blues show, you have to go! First of all, it's the beginning of Carnival season. There are no major parades that weekend but some minor ones that will be worth seeing if you've never been to a Mardi Gras parade. Second, the undefeated New Orleans Saints will be playing in the NFC divisional playoff game in the Superdome that weekend (sorry, we can't help you with tickets to that).

Third, and most important, lightning is going to strike at the New Orleans House of Blues in a big way. We've arranged with some friends from New Orleans-based bands to sit in on several key songs in the show. Dave Malone of the New Orleans Radiators is going to play with Joe on Comfortably Numb; Dave comes from a band that specializes in dual lead guitar solos, so look for fireworks on this one. Joe Cabral of the Iguanas will be playing saxophone on Money; there will be some amazing jamming to spice up that song. Other guests are in the works, but look for The Machine to be hosting a summit of New Orleans' finest musicians.

Hey Machine Fans,

It's time to start making plans for the summer music festivals happening in 2010. The Machine's going to be performing at some great festivals this summer - sorry, we can't tell you exactly which ones yet - but one that we'd like to play at is All Good, which happens in Masontown, West Virginia.

The buzz about All Good is that it's a festival for the true music lovers, and past attendees have told me that this is true. I've heard it's a great time, without the stress and crime associated with some of the mega-festivals. So we want you to want to see us there...

...which leads me to my point. All Good has a "wishlist" of bands you'd like to see at the festival this upcoming summer. What we'd like for you to do is put "The Machine performs Pink Floyd" at the very top of this list. Oh, feel free to include other bands you want to see there on that list too.

Remember, we love you guys, and we love music festivals...so with your help and your vote, we'll be seeing you at All Good 2010!
December 2nd 2009
Rare footage of Syd Barrett singing with Pink Floyd on the BBC One music show Top Of The Pops has been discovered after more than 40 years.

The damaged footage of the band playing See Emily Play has been restored and will now be screened for the first time since its initial 1967 broadcast.

Barrett, who died in 2006, left the group a year after it was recorded.

The British Film Institute will show the footage at its Missing Believed Wiped annual event on 9 January.

The Pink Floyd performance, on a one-inch, reel-to-reel tape, was discovered in a private collection.

It features two editions of TOTP from 6 and 27 July 1967, hosted by the late DJ Alan Freeman.

Steve Bryant, senior curator at the BFI, said: "This is an enormously significant discovery that will generate huge interest amongst music fans all over the world, even though the surviving material is in poor condition.

"Footage of Pink Floyd from this era is extremely rare."

BFI staff were "thrilled to have been given the opportunity to restore this recording, as much as has been possible, so that people can get a sense of this legendary appearance", he added.

TV recordings were often dumped or wiped in the 1960s and 1970s due to tape storage issues.

Hey Everybody,

Thanks to everyone who came out for Todd and Joe's Homecoming performance at Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, NY! The show was an absolute blast due in no small part to Howard Rose who was our sound engineer for the show. Howard's a part of our crew from wayyy back who's since moved on to the Boston Pops (Go Howard!).

You'll also be able to hear his amazing sound work this weekend at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA and the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA. Come check it out!

Love,
The Machine

Hey everyone,

Atlantans, we're not going to see you this January but keep our April 2nd show with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on your calendars; it's going to be an absolute extravaganza!

So, you all know your pals in The Machine have been working really hard to get the symphonic Pink Floyd show off the ground. We've performed it with the Detroit, San Diego, Pittsburgh, and Delaware Symphonies. We've been talking to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for two years about performing with them, and finally a date has been arranged!

Friday, April 2, 2010
The Machine with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta, GA

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is a big creator of rock programming, and The Machine follows in the footsteps of acts such as Collective Soul, the Decemberists, and Jill Scott. We will let you know the minute that tickets are on sale, but with the cheap airfare to Atlanta available right now there is no reason not to come! And if there is enough interest, maybe we could make a group deal for hotel rooms.

We look forward to seeing you guys there!

WHICH ONE'S PINK?

One doesn't typically associate an electrifying laser show and the haunting melodies of Pink Floyd with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, but on Friday, more than 2,300 of us took a trip to the "Dark Side of the Moon" for The Machine, where the strings and the brass met with the electric guitar and drums, catapulting into a mystifying overdose of sound that is created when rock begins to roll.

Hailed as the ultimate Pink Floyd experience, Todd Cohen, Ryan Ball, Joe Pascarell (whose parents are from Uniontown) and Scott Chasolen joked around backstage about some of the finer points of our fine city. "We like Pittsburgh. The Pirates are really great!" laughed Chasolen, who had to make his escape back into the green room before the Louisville sluggers came out.

On our feet for a thunderous standing "O" most of the evening, The Machine tripped the light fandango from "Comfortably Numb" to "Wish You Were Here," blowing the crystal right off the chandeliers at Heinz Hall while resident conductor Daniel Meyer and the symphony went from classical to classic rock with a riff of furious proportions without missing a beat.

Shine on, you crazy diamond ...

Faces in the crowd included Bob Joyce and son Alex, Michelle and Josh Fox, Frank Belczyk, David and Alicia Cunningham, Marc Thiepen, Jody Watts, Stephanie Socco, Lauren and Joey Adams, Jack Riggle, Avery Thompson and Kendra Mitts.

FurryContact-a

Joe Pascarell, 48, of New York, meets Natalie "Rain" Lundberg, 21 of Silver Spring, Md., outside the Westin Downtown during the first day of check-in for AnthroCon yesterday. Pascarell, who was in town to perform with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with his band "Machine" was learning about the "furry" phenomenon for the first time from Lundberg. (Andrew Russell/Tribune-Review)

Friday night The Machine preformed with the Pittsburgh Symphony before more than 2000 fans. It was a show that will go down in Machine history books (of there ever are such things) as the stuff of myth: great hall with superb acoustics, wonderful orchestra and conductor, and a transcendent performance by the band.

But frankly, it's a wonder that Joe could go on at all after the shock of discovering that the hotel that they were staying on was also the home of the "World's Largest Furry Convention" Anthrocon 2009.

Apparently, "furry fandom" refers to "the fandom for fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, the ability to speak, walk on two legs, and wear clothes." 3776 furry fans were gathered in the very same hotel as the band (a mere 670 dressed up for the parade) and Joe had the pleasure (?) of having all of this explained to him first hand.

So, the next time someone calls you crazy for driving 6 hours in the snow to see The Machine for the 11th time is 10 months, send them here

The Machine is proud to announce our first ever official street coordinator Ms. Vikki Denlinger. Welcome aboard Vikki and thank-you!!!

She'll be helping us grow and utilize our street team to help promote all things Machine.  We'll let her take it from here:

We're looking for Street Teamers in ALL areas, especially the fast-approaching Southern tour, to help spread the word about upcoming shows... distribute flyers, hang posters, email friends, post on other forums, that kind of thing. In exchange you'd get a pair of tickets to the show, or if you've already bought your tickets, TM merchandise is an option. Please take a look at the Tour Dates and see if you can help out! :)

Or maybe you know somebody who might be interested in helping? Is The Machine playing near any family or friends who might appreciate the opportunity? Maybe someone you'd like to turn on to The Machine but who wouldn't want to pay for tickets? lol

Or does anybody just happen to know anyone who DJs at a college radio station? We have one Street Teamer who DJs at the University of Maryland's radio station... he plays The Machine's CDs and does on-air giveaways... would be great to find more like him!

Do you know of another Pink Floyd tribute band playing near you? Or any other show or event Pink Floyd fans might be at? If so, maybe the timing and location would be good for passing out flyers for an upcoming Machine show? Street teaming opportunities are everywhere... if anyone has any ideas or resources for promoting a show, please speak up!

Anyone interested in joining the Street Team, or just wanting to share ideas, can email me at vikki515@comcast.net or Bruce at bruce@skylineonline.com. Help spread the addiction! Thank you! :D

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the fans who offered up their Street Team services within the last year or so... I hope to have the pleasure of working with all of you again! :)

Vikki
Street Team Coordinator

Pinnk_floyd_rick_waters Richard Wright, a founding member of Pink Floyd, has died at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer. Wright played the keyboard and wrote music on such albums as Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here. A spokesman said: "The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness, that Richard died ... after a short struggle with cancer. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time." (more from Associated Press)

When asked to comment, Machine keyboardist Scott Chasolen said, "Richard Wright has left an indelible mark on this world. His playing and musical sensibility have had such a profound influence on me, and so many others. His legacy will live on in all of our hearts - especially onstage with us - at every show."

PINK FLOYD NEWS: David Gilmour says there will be no Pink Floyd reunion. He's having too much fun with his solo projects. When the band performed at Live 8 in London in 2005, it was the first time in almost 25 years that Gilmour and Roger Waters had appeared onstage together

But Gilmour told the associated press that though the gig was "excellent, really enjoyable, "the rehearsals were less enjoyable. The rehearsals convinced me it wasn't something I wanted to be doing a lot of".

"There have been all sorts of farewell moments in people's lives and careers which they have then rescinded, but I think I can fairly categorically say that there won't be a tour or an album again that I take part in," said Gilmour.  "It isn't to do with animosity or anything like that. It's just that I've done that. I've been there, I've done it."

"David Gilmour Live in Gdansk," a double concert album and DVD to be released Sept. 23 on Columbia Records.

MORE VACATION NEWS

Hey there everyone!
New_zealand

This is Scott, the keyboard playing guy. I have remained relatively silent on the website since my inception into the band, but please don't take it personally!! Thanks for being so supportive and unconditional.

So, for the past 3 1/2 weeks, my new WIFE (wow that feels funny) Katy and I have been on an adventure that took us to the other side of the planet. After a decade of togetherness, we wanted to do something we have always dreamed of, which is going to New Zealand. So we combined our wedding and honeymoon into one big crazy trip, which inevitably prevented the band from doing shows for a while. My apologies for that, but sometimes a break can be the best thing for us all. We return with a newfound fire and passion for playing.

New Zealand is without a doubt the most incredible place I have ever been...its landscapes are breathtaking, people are so friendly and hospitable, and time actually moves slower! No one is ever in a hurry, and the general pace and quality of life is much different. It will certainly be a challenge to bring some of that back here to the USA.

Over the course of our time there, we had our wedding ceremony on a remote island only accessible by boat. It was just the 2 of us, (with witnesses and a celebrant of course) which allowed for a totally chill, stress free day! Imagine that! There was also a photographer, so we can share some pics when we get them in a few weeks.

Then the exploration began...we treked around the entire south island, visiting 11 different spots in total. Everyone drives on the other side of the road in New Zealand, so that was a bit wacky and took a minute to adjust to!! Its actually much better, so I have decided to keep doing that once we get back to the states...

There is so much to do...let's see...we climbed through a glow-worm cave, hiked on a glacier, went white-water rafting, horseback riding, sea kayaking, witnessed a sheep-shearing on a farm, met yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals, sea lions, visited the royal albatross colony (now when we play Echoes I can picture the real thing), went to some of the Lord of the Rings sites (yes we are sci-fi dorks) and took many hikes and walks through the beautiful beaches, forests and mountains.

We had a music free honeymoon...Katy is a musician as well and we both needed some time away from our instruments, not to mention giving our ears a break from listening. But...now it is TIME TO ROCK!!! I am totally psyched to start doing shows again, and hope to see y'all out there somewhere very soon. Thanks for hearing me babble..

Peace
Scott

KIND WORDS FROM THE CONDUCTOR OF THE DETROIT SYMPHONY FOR THE MACHINE:

What a gas it was to work with you guys.

As a Classical musician it is great to dig in and make new musical discoveries. I had heard the music of Pink Floyd however this experience allowed me a chance to examine the music in depth and what great music. You all were good fun to work with, dedicated and the audience LOVED IT! The orchestra loved it. Best wishes to you all in the upcoming season. I look forward to our next encounter."

Here's another rough but very cool new video from The Machine's recent gig with the Detroit Symphony.

PINK FLOYD NEWS -

"A Pink Floyd comeback would be the greatest gig in the sky, according to the findings of a new Europe-wide poll.

When asked "Which band would you most like to see re-form," more than 26% of respondents to the census, published today by digital music firm Music Choice, said a reunion of the prog-rock legends was top of their wish-list. Swedish pop giants Abba was the next best thing, gathering support for a comeback from more than 19% of interviewees. Rock titans Guns N' Roses were third on the list with 15.73%.

Music Choice undertook the study in the wake of unrivaled consumer interest for the one-off Led Zeppelin performance in London on Nov. 26. Organizers of the Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert have claimed more than 20 million people registered for the available 18,000 tickets in just a matter of hours." - Billboard.com

September 25th 2007

NEW DATES HAVE JUST BEEN POSTED INCLUDING NEW YEAR'S EVE!

I didn't make it out to Reading but that band said they had a great show. Lots of extended jams and per your requests played "Sorrow" for the first time in years plus a bunch of songs that don't get performed live that much anymore by anyone. "Cymbaline" and "Celestial Voices".

Just in case you weren't one of the lucky few who saw The Machine with the entire Detroit Symphony this summer, here is a grainy but still very cool video of the band and the DSO doing "Comfortably Numb".

Pink_floyd In a little bit of Pink Floyd news, Amazon.com opened an DRM-free all mp3 download store today which includes the entire PF catalog. No more of that pesky copy-protection that keeps you from sharing these gems with your friends. Some of the classic albums are on sale for $7.99 as downloads. Check it all out here.

The band loved seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd this weekend at the sold out State College, PA show. It's been years since they've played there. Thanks to everyone who came to the premier of The Machine & Symphonic Pink Floyd. We've been in such a (fortunate) whirlwind that it's taken us a little longer to post here.
The show with The Detroit Symphony was a success musically and otherwise. Our arranger Maxim Moston with the help of Nico Mulay did a brilliant job. The standing ovation at the end of the first set and the triple curtain call at the end of the show was beyond uplifting.
Chelsea Tipton who conducted the Orchestra was a joy to work with. It was an honor to work beside a man of his accomplishments. We look forward to many more of these shows in 2008 and maybe sooner.
Here's a note from Chelsea regarding the performance.

"If you would pass this along to the guys in the Machine.
Peace to you all,
Chelsea, 2

Sorry about the rain out folks. Unfortunately, the stage wasn't properly covered and our gear was in danger of being smoked if we turned it back on. We had to make the call to save our gear and not make a human light show out of the band.
We deeply regret not being able to play for everyone. But we promise, we'll be back to Baltimore and we'll make it up to you. A RAMS HEAD LIVE date is almost confirmed. Stay tuned for more details soon.

Pink Floyd Members Appear At Barrett Tribute Concert Posted: May 21, 2007

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- The surviving members of Pink Floyd took part in a tribute concert last week to honor the band’s original frontman, the late Roger ‘Syd’ Barrett.
Guitarist David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason, bassist Roger Waters and keyboardist Rick Wright all appeared on stage at the “Syd Barrett – Madcap’s Last Laugh” gig, held at the London Barbican on May 10th, but the full band never appeared all together.

Gilmour, Mason and Wright performed Barrett’s “Arnold Layne,” the group’s first hit. Water’s performed a solo version of his track, “Flickering Flame.”

The concert paid homage to Barrett, who died last July at the age of 60, following complications from diabetes. The artist had left the band following their first album due to deteriorating mental health, and spend the majority of his last 30 years in seclusion at this home in Cambridge, England.

Other performers at the concert included Blur frontman Damon Albarn, the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde and singer Robin Hitchcock.

The performance ended with an all-star finale featuring all performers except for Waters, playing one of Barrett’s other best-known works, “Bike,” from the band’s 1967 debut album, “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.” --by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers

Roger Waters to tour North America

Roger Waters, The Creative Genius Behind Pink Floyd, Comes Back To North America This Spring to Perform His Masterpiece, 'The Dark Side of The Moon,' In Its Entirety During Eagerly-Anticipated Return Concert Engagements
NEW YORK, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of the archetypal progressive rock band Pink Floyd, will return to the United States and Canada this spring to perform the epic rock masterpiece, "The Dark Side Of The Moon," in its entirety, during a series of return concert engagements beginning May 18 in West Palm Beach, Florida and ending July 14 in Toronto (see Roger Waters Concert Itinerary following).
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" - The Return Engagement combines a full evening's worth of music--comprised of two sets plus encores-- performed by Roger Waters and full band with state-of-the-art staging, lighting and sound
Set One provides a comprehensive overview of Waters' music including early Pink Floyd material; classic compositions from the masterpiece "The Wall"; beloved pieces from "Animals," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Final Cut"; and songs from Waters' solo tour de force: "Amused To Death.
Set Two presents Roger Waters and band performing "The Dark Side Of The Moon," one of the defining works of rock music history, from start-to-finish. Waters performed "The Dark Side Of The Moon" for the first time as a solo artist during his 2006 world tour which included a run of North American concerts last fall. Prior to Waters' 2006 tour, his last live performances of the work took place with Pink Floyd more than 30 years ago.
The Roger Waters band features Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar and vocals), Snowy White (guitar), Dave Kilminster (guitar and vocals), Jon Carin (keyboards and vocals), Graham Broad (drums), Harry Waters (Hammond organ), and Ian Ritchie (saxophone) and Katie Kissoon, PP Arnold and Carol Kenyon (vocals).
The Roger Waters concerts utilize elaborate large-scale video projections and theatrical staging to underscore and accentuate the power of the music which is delivered via a state-of-the-art 360 degree quadraphonic sound system immersing the audience in a 3-dimensional hyperworld.
Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side Of The Moon" was originally released in 1973 immediately establishing a standard of excellence for its advanced blend of progressive music, philosophical themes, and sonic exploration. A brilliantly-wrought song-cycle detailing the conundrums of humanity's place in a modern technocracy, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" achieved a soulful austerity of mood while foreshadowing the role of electronica in an emerging youth culture.
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" reached an unparalleled level of aesthetic and commercial success becoming one of the world's top-selling albums of all time (with global sales totaling more than 34 million copies). The album remained in the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart for a record-breaking 15 years and, as recently as 2003, occupied the #1 spot on the Billboard Pop Catalog chart. In 2004, the album was still selling more than 8,000 copies a week. It has been estimated that 1 in every 14 Americans under the age of 50 owns a copy of "The Dark Side Of The Moon."
Roger Waters co-founded the groundbreaking Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett in 1966 and became the group's sonic architect upon Barrett's departure, creating such undeniable classics as "The Dark Side Of The Moon" (which spent nearly 15 years on the Billboard 200 album chart), "The Wall" (which has been certified 23x RIAA platinum), "Animals," "Wish You Were Here," and "Final Cut."
His first full-length solo album, "The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking," was released in April 1984, to great critical and popular success, generating his first solo tour. June 1987's "Radio K.A.O.S." continued the path of solo success, bringing Roger back to the concert stage. Released in August 1992, Waters' last full-length solo album, "Amused To Death," is a witty and prescient musical critique of the powers and dangers of mass media, considered by many to be a comparable aesthetic and cultural achievement to "The Dark Side Of The Moon" or "The Wall."

October 21st 2006
Rebecca Carter of Relix magazine had some questions for Scott Chasolen. She kindly took time to do a short interview with him. Thanks RC! Enjoy

Relix: How long have you been playing and how long were you with Ulu?
Scott: I started playing piano 21 years ago by accident...ulu began in 1997, recorded 4 albums and toured relentlessly until 2004 when the band dissolved.  it was an adventurous instrumental group that constantly pushed musical boundaries through composition and improvisation.
RELIX:  How did you get involved with The Machine?
Scott:The Machine was somewhat of a household name for years...but i never actually got a chance to see them live. it is still a mystery as to how Todd found me...an unknown source passed my email to him and we had a phone conversation, met up once in person with joe also, and had a musical audition.  it was astonishing how organic the whole process felt, never once was there an awkward "i'm the new guy" moment.  our peronalities seemd to jive, and playing together was so easy. it was like putting together a 1000 piece puzzle in less than 10 minutes...the picture it yielded was a surprise to us all.
RELIX:   What do you hope to bring their sound?
SCOTT:Well, it's challenging to step into a situation like this.  I have the utmost respect for Neil, and he has been really helpful in getting me started on the right path.  Naturally, we are very different players, and I am going to bring a whole new set of utensils to the table, even though the menu might be the same.   I totally dig being more of a supportive role in this band...as most of Pink Floyd's musical moments were guitar based.  Don't get me wrong, I love to put my 3 cents in when necessary!!
RELIX:Are you a big Floyd fan?
Scott:Pink Floyd was an enormous part of my musical life since a very young age.  I remember listening to my dad's Dark Side record and being blown away by it. There's something unexplainable about the state it puts me in...a hypnotic trance of endless wonder.  The Wall,  Wish You Were Here and Animals were also in nonstop rotation on my listening list.  Those were the monumental albums, the ones that had a profound impact on what music meant to me from that moment forward. There was a very deep connection.  Curiosity pushed me to investigate all of their albums eventually, and it was interesting to see how they evolved from the pre-Gilmour beginning all the way until the post-Waters end. Its quite a timeline.
RELIX: What do you enjoy the most about playing Floyd music with The Machine?
SCOTT: Playing Floyd with The Machine is almost a surreal experience...the music is so meaningful to me and I just want to make things sound as authentic as possible without losing my own persona. The future is wide open...Thanks to everyone in advance for the welcome...I promise to give y'all a ride you won't forget.

Sorry to inform you that the show at THE BIG E / YOUNG Exihibit building on OCT 14th. is being rescheduled. We are waiting on a new date and will post to this site as soon as one has been confirmed.
The Big E Center is not up to current Massachusets fire code when hosting a "concert." The venue is perfectly safe. But, In light of the new laws since the R.I. fire, stringent new codes now exsist for venues hosting concerts.

We appologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and regret making this announcement.

After 10 years of dedication keyboardist and friend Neil Alexander is leaving THE MACHINE. Scott Chasolen, veteran of the jam band scene and the instrumental band ULU, will replace him.

We will miss many of Neil's musical contributions, his manic "KEYTUIAR" solos, and his most devious English accent during The Trial, “ CALL THE SCHOOL MASTER!” And of course the musical richness Neil brought to The Machine. These are only a few Nealisms that we grew to love.

We are sure Scott's presence will light things up and bring THE MACHINE exciting energy for years to come! The band is psyched up to start playing with Scott; we’ve been rehearsing diligently. Scott will be adding a new dimension to THE MACHINE, his use of vintage keyboards; organs and analog synthesizers will take THE Machine’s sound to a new level of excitement. His singing voice will also add new colors and texture to THE Machine’s vocal arrangements. Be on the look out for some serious jamming. We all wish Neil the best. He’ll be playing with us through Sept. Here are some parting words from Neil. And for more info on Scott, check out his site

To my dear friends & Fans of TM,
I write you today to announce my departure from "The Machine”. Rest assured that this decision does not come lightly and without much forethought. I have been a working musician and composer for nearly 30 years, and Have worked in almost every kind of musical situation. TM has been one Of, if not the, highlights of that career. However, for me the best is Yet to come! Basically, it comes down to a few things. Here it is:

After many months of soul searching and looking inward, I Finally realized that I need to concentrate fully on Neil Alexander & NAIL gigs. What this means is: I am now 100% ready to put 100% of my Energy towards performing, promoting, and otherwise LIVING my own Music. I've been writing my own stuff since 1977. I've penned something Like 150 tunes; I’ve scored a film; I've got 5 CD's out. I want – and Need - to play my own music full time, with no reservations. Really, the only thing getting in the way of me doing my own Music was...me! Hence the soul searching, which was and continues to be Very involved. I need to find my own way, to sing with my own voice. Every gig that NAIL has done in the last 1 1/2 years has gotten great Response. That tells me I'm on the right track, and it feels damn good. I've given this a LOT of thought. I owe it to myself to believe in Myself enough, and I do - NOW. I've never been more ready. Playing with TM has been one of the most valuable experiences of my Life. They have always been extraordinarily professional with me, even When I was “freaking out” over gear issues, etc. Their professionalism Guarantees that the new keyboard player will be nothing less than Exceptional, so no worries. Most importantly, we got to make A LOT of people very happy. I got to Play a big part in that, for which I will be eternally grateful.... It was a great run. 10 years. What else can I say? If there was a way For me to continue and do NAIL at the same time, I would. If you think Of it let me know. Thanks again for all your support over the years.

All the best, health happiness, long life, peace and music - To each and every one of ya!

During our encore, " ONE OF THESE DAYS,"you may have noticed that the house lights were on in the rear of The Strand. That had nothing to do with the band. It was totally the doing of the venue. Seems they were in a hurry to get their beer swilling dance crowd inside.
We got the feeling that the venue wanted us to stop, but we honored our vow to you!! We needed to lay down one more slamming PINK FLOYD song to make the eve complete.

Waters Admits Interest In Floyd Reunion

Posted: Mon., Nov. 28, 2005 10:17:23 AM MST
(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Speculation has been growing in Europe recently regarding a possible full-fledged Pink Floyd reunion.
Roger Waters, in an interview with NME.com, admitted that he would be interested in the project, following their brief reunion this year for the Live8 concerts.
“I’d be very up for doing a lot more,” he explained. “It was such fun. We went in and did some rehearsals, and the moment we plugged in for the first rehearsal, it was like putting on an old shoe.”
For now, however, Waters is concentrating on his new opera, “Ca Ira,” about the French Revolution.
“Music is music. One’s only responsibility as a musician or any kind of artist is to speak one’s truth and hopefully invoke some kind of emotional response in your audience,” Waters said of the project.
“So whether you’re painting on a palette that’s bass crums and electric guitars or a symphony orchestra and chorus and soloists, fundamentally it’s the same exercise.” --by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers

Wunderbar!
You all know how special it is to bring a newbie to a Machine show and feel the excitement as they experience what we love for the first time. Well, I had an incredible experience seeing The Machine with an entire club of enthusiastic first timers at E-Werk in Cologne Germany on Wed night!
What a show! First set was the entire Animals album, and it was cool watching the packed audience quietly checking TM out with those first strummed chords of Pigs on the Wing, and how Dogs came by and started to carry them along for a ride. At the end of the song, I heard someone say the equivalent of "Holy Sh*t" in German! A blistering rendition of Pigs included a giant inflated pig slowly emerging behind The Nail and "winging" over his head along a guide wire and diagonally across the club! Just when you thought Pigs on the Wing part 2 was ending, Norbert Stachel appeared and led a tasty jam to close out the album set.
The second set was a classic 2 hours that was reminiscent of the best of all-time sets from the Wetlands, The Chance and BB's. It began with the awesome Shine On, and then, The Machine turned it up another notch and really lit the fans and rocked the place with Astronomy Domine. From that point on, the fans were rockin, singing (yep, in English!), and loudly acknowledging appreciation of what they were witnessing. You should have seen the reaction when TM did Echoes and transitioned into One of These Days! Included in the set (see list) was the best rendition of Final Cut I've heard - Joe's voice was incredible! The encore concluded with their classic torrid version of Run Like Hell, with the tempo increasing to leave everyone in a fever pitch.
The Machine was "on" tonight, and played with as much energy as I have ever experienced. They lit the first-time crowd and fed off of it, just like they do at our US clubs. Apparently I was extremely fortunate - TM had played a string of Theaters on this tour, where the fans were relatively subdued, as typical in that type of venue. So I was able to experience The Machine unleashed, as this was the only Club venue. Joe, Todd, Ryan, Nail and Norbert all gave top performances. Personally, for many reasons, this was one of the best of all-time shows - it was like seeing TM for the first time, and getting absolutely blown away! Holy Sh*t!
Danke Schon, "Tarkus" Mike
P.S. it was like old times at the Wetlands, waiting on line in the cold for a while outside the club before the show. I even looked for Matt C.!
